Team Startory Jokers is sponsored by the Japanese brewery Startory. An all-japanese team was sent to the Tour to promote Startory's new 0% alcohol sake drink and the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.

The team was built around the outstanding and short-tempered ace sprinter Nobuhiko Honda.

He is backed up by the tender team leader Mamoru Mitsubishi and his cool assistant Jun Yamaha. His main sprint assistant is the young ADHD time trialist Yoshiki Matsuda. 

In the mountains, the brothers Daisuke Daihatsu and Keisuke Kawasaki give their best to earn the red polka-dot jersey.

But since Team Startory Jokers is only an UCI continental team that was sent to the Tour via wildcard, no one really believes that they are able to pull out an outstanding performance.
